Nice roundup, speaking from south of the border and more informed on Canadian politics than most Americans.

NDP? I agree on Singh. That said, the NDP's been in the crapper since Tom Mulcair's election to replace Layton. How does someone who was a provincial level Liberal and eyed the Conservatives even get elected to head the NDP?

Greens? As a former Green down here, now an independent leftist? It's been fun watching the tussle, and May might be your Jill Stein.

And, I'm glad that Canada, like the US, has multiple Communist parties; I voted for the PSL down here last year rather than spoil my ballot after I knew I couldn't vote for Stein. Trots vs tankies fights (You guys don't have a Maoist Commie party yet, right?) are always fun.

Well, Adam, if NDP stays as much in the crapper as it appears to be in the Maritimes, Singh will certainly get forced out. So, "look on the bright side." (My prediction is Liberals win, whether with a plurality or a very thin majority.)

Brian Mulfoney is my default write in candidate. I don't know why. He never got a statue in Ottawa? Or at least hasn't yet.

And, I posted this to Hucksterman and tagged a few Canadian friends. Two stridently commented. One is someone who leans more NDP, in Nova Scotia (Antigonish) but is voting Liberal as lesser evilism this time.

Another is a Green in Edmonton who has run for about every local-level Green office he can. (I don't think he's run for parliament in whatever Edmonton riding he's in.)

The Nova Scotian accused you of pro-Conservative cherry-picking. The Green accused you of total distortion.

On both the former and latter, I refused to vote for Jill Stein down here last year, because she's an investments hypocrite, and the hypocrisy looked even worse after Oct. 7, 2023. Claudia de la Cruz was available by write-in here in Tex-ass, so I voted for the Commie! So, I reject lesser evilism voting and long have. (This friend is also dyed-in-the-wool on Ukrainian support and refuses to accept any of the accusations about Freeland, Uki-Nazis in Canada, etc.) And, I'm not a Commie, but yeah, part of US Greens' problems, even though Howie Hawkins pushed "ecosocialism," is that they're by and large not a party of the left.

On the latter, I don't know if Canada's Greens are as bad in some ways as US Greens, but I followed at least bits of both the leadership kerfuffle and the Zionism kerfuffle from this side of the border.

In the "midterms" here in the states next year, the Green Party has party-line ballot access in Texas. If they run a non-idiot for governor and US Senate, they'll get my vote. (They had no candidate for Senate in 2024 and ran an idiot for governor in 2022.)

Anyway, none of those who commented even appreciated your snarkiness, even if they disagreed with your analysis.

My vote is usually based on whether I know who the MP of my riding is and if I think he's doing a good job. Which means it's usually the Liberal candidate, since my riding has been Liberal practically since the dawn of man, with occasional exceptions.

However, I politically identify as liberal with a small L.
